The Word of God is Living and Active…

“Settle it down in your mind as an established rule, that, whether you feel it at the moment or not, you are inhaling spiritual health by reading your Bible, and insensibly becoming more strong.”

Rev. J.C. Ryle

On 1 January 2025, the Scottish Bible Podcast was founded to occupy a vacant space. Scotland is the land of Patrick Hamilton, George Wishart and John Knox, each of whose legacy inspired global education and biblical literacy. If Scotland is among God’s greatest exports to the world, why was there no podcast seeking to increase biblical literacy and do so with the emerging generation in Scotland? This podcast operates, in the Pauline tradition, of bringing children “… up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord…”i, as a father and son read the Bible together.

Ewan Sr. and Ewan Jr. also took it upon themselves to meet on a weekly basis with pastors, parishioners, politicians and professors, in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and various other cities, towns and villages across Scotland, to listen to their reflections on the Bible. You can listen to all these here – Scottish Bible Podcast (reflections). What they encountered, like the smouldering wick, was many Christian outposts where there remained the gentle flicker of a golden ember, just awaiting a fresh breath of God.

Once branded ‘the Land of the Book’, the Scottish Bible Podcast envisions a Scotland full, once again, with biblically-literate men, women and children. Like true Scotsmen, Ewan Sr. and Ewan Jr. are unvarnished and unedited, and with the help of Rev. Dave Dickson, this trio produced a podcast for every day of 2025. What they did not foresee was 87,368 downloads in year one. However, it is never too late to join the global community in 2026, here – Scottish Bible Podcast (website) – and here – Scottish Bible Podcast (social).

Why not join us and daily feast at the banquet of God’s word?
